Bangor is sizeable in population, with about 31,000 people squeezed into approximately 34 square miles. The Penbscot river winds its way through the city. As befits a city with lots of people; Bangor has its International airport. Bangor International Airport is a refueling and customs stop for flights from Europe and out of the United States. It has a single runway over 11,000 feet in length. The Bangor Symphony Orchestra, a community orchestra, has been continuously performing longer than any other similar orchestra in the United States.
