237 Route 59
Suffern, New York 10901
The Algonquin natives translate Ramapo as “sweet water” or “sloping rock”. In 2006 “Money” magazine listed Ramapo as the 49th best place in the US and THE best place in NY State to live. The Town of Ramapo contains the communities and villages of Airmont, Chestnut Ridge, Hillburn, Hillcrest, Kaser, Monsey, Ramapo, New Hempstead, New Square, Montebello, Sloatsburg, Spring Valley, Sterlington, Suffern, Suffern Park, Tallman, Viola, and Wesley Hills. Harriman State Park is also found in Ramapo. According to local folklore, George Washington climbed the Ramapo Torne (located in Harriman State Park) with a telescope to spy on the movement of British ships off of Sandy Hook during the American Revolution.
Town Attorney Michael L. Klein and his many deputies prosecute violations of the Town laws and vehicle and traffic laws for the town cops. They’re probably handling Trooper tickets now too. Criminal cases are prosecuted by Rockland County District Attorney Michael Bongiorno and his ADAs.
Thruway speeding tickets, plus some from the Palisades Parkway. Criminal & DUI cases too.
