Montgomery Courthouse

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is housed in the Carolyn Blount Theatre which consists of two units; the 750-seat Festival Stage and the 225-seat Octagon as well as production shops, rehearsal halls, and administrative work spaces. The festival operates year-round, producing world-class productions annually including works of William Shakespeare as well as classics of the stage along with musicals and new works commissioned by the Festival. Montgomery is home to one of the nation’s most prestigious Air Force bases, the Maxwell Air Force Base which is the home of the Air University, an important constituent of the Air Education and Training Command. During the First World War, the base was used as a repair depot for planes but is now is the US Air Force’s center for Professional Military Education and the Officer Training School. The base is home to several wings of the US Aur Force.
