Newport is home to a strange combination of museums. Virginia Arnett, a resident of Newport has a collection of close to 8,000 dolls including a complete set of “Gone With The Wind” character dolls. She exhibits a changing display of over 5,000 of them in a private museum adjacent to her home in Newport.
For the macabre, you can visit the Jackson Memorial Museum of Funeral Service, a museum owned by a family in town, which exhibits a horse-drawn hearse and funeral buggy from the 19th century, a chapel and other items.
