Each July, Congress Square is the scene of the Song Festival which features live music performances by a line-up of musicians and an arts fair. There is also large array of local arts vendors, selling everything from t-shirts, to jewelry, to vinyl records. Portland honors their hometown celebrity with a 10ft bronze statue of John Ford Statue in his director’s chair, holding a pipe and wearing a wide-brim hat at Gorham’s Corner. A less distinguished statue is the Slugger Dog with Bat statue at Hancock field.
