About the area
Dorchester became a town in 1630 and is one of the oldest communities in the Boston area. By the turn on the 20th century the population had tripled in size from when the town was first established. There are many historic sites and many famous political people have visited and lived in Dorchester. The University of Massachusetts is also located in the area. The campus is spread out and has been there since the 1970\’s. This is a great school to attend as Dorchester has many amenities to take advantage of.
