Many historic events occurred in Worcester County. Clara Barton founded the Red Cross. Eli Whitney was born here. Robert Goddard did some cool rocket stuff. And some say Johnny Appleseed was born here too. Rich history in the area going back perhaps 300 years. It gets overshadowed a bit by nearby Boston. The county is kind of the middle of the state, about halfway from the eastern and western edges. Going north-south it stretches to both borders, with NH to the north and both CT and RI to the south.
