International Falls lies along the border with Canada with the Rainy river in between. The international rail port of entry located here is one of the busiest in North America. The Falls International Airport is one of the busiest in Minnesota and can now accommodate the largest of aircraft, both commercial and private. With these ports of entry, International Falls also has one of the Foreign Trade Zones in Minnesota. The city has among the lowest of winter temperatures in the nation which provides for world class ice fishing on Rainy Lake enjoyed by many visitors to the area. It does get warmer here with comfortable temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s. Spring and autumn are the time for bird watchers to visit here when over 200 species migrate to and from the area.
