You might just to wander through town to see many of the buildings still standing which are a part of the history of this town and the area. In the early 1880’s a railroad line from Natchez to Jackson was constructed and the city of Raymond was on that line. At the end of the 1880’s a depot was built at Raymond so that passengers coming to and departing from the city could use the railroad. For fifty years the depot was a busy place. The Belcher House was built in the middle of the 19th century by an Raymond iron works specialist. The house had a feature that was true of many of the houses built during that time. The kitchen was built as a separate structure to the back of the house to prevent fires from affecting the house.
