Where state highways 15 and 18 meet, near the center of the city, there is a gazebo shading a natural spring that is the city’s namesake. A new fountain has been built to give the residents an opportunity to taste the bubbling clear spring water coming from it. The annual BayFest Celebration is a four day event held in June at Smith park. A carnival, live musical entertainment, a fun run, a mule pull, log cutting contest, a Sack race, Bayless pie eating contest, a Tomato throw, a Watermelon eating contest and a Prettiest Rooster contest are some of the events held to entertain the people who attend this festival.
