Monett Municipal Court

When the Frisco railroad came through this area, Monett became one of the towns along the line and was originally originally known as either Plymouth, Plymouth Junction or Plymouth Crossing. As activity at the terminal increased there was a growth in agriculture, retail commerce and small manufacturing; however as time went on, livestock, apples, tomatoes, cigar factory, ice plant, razor/cutlery factory, creamery, poultry, dairy and the “Ozark” strawberries drove the economy of the city. Monett was even known as the Strawberry Capital of the Midwest. When the economy due to the railroad started to decrease; a group of businessmen formed a development corporation which encouraged and brought new industry to Monett. Monett North park has a large number of lighted baseball fields, lighted tennis courts, a playground, picnic shelters and a skate park. Monett South park has a large amount of features and facilities for outdoor recreation. In this park you will find a Rose garden, fishing pond,
trails for walking, bicycling, hiking, exercise trail and nature exploration, lighted tennis courts, a lighted basketball court, soccer fields, a horseshoe court an Olympic size swimming pool with a waterslide, playground areas, an Old Frisco RR caboose, picnic shelters and an outdoor band shell.
