The public part of the Kootenai National Forest. As a result the residents here have available lakes, rivers and uncrowded mountain trails. If you travel West from Libby on US 2, you will come to Kootenai Falls which is fed by the Kootenai river. There is swinging bridge there, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the great depression, which will allow you to get a view of the main falls. If you travel South from Libby, you will come to the Libby Creek Recreational Gold Panning area, within the forest, where you can pan for gold and keep whatever you find. Just to the West of Libby is the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness which has areas for primitive camping. The Libby Memorial Events Center has a theater with a stage, seating over 200 people and a large space for conventions. The Igniters Car Club holds, as part of its annual Ignite the Nites event, a car show on the streets of Libby during the third weekend of August. The event also includes a Burn Out contest and cruise. Close to 400 entries take part in the show.
