This town’s heritage is based in agriculture but it is trying to attract technological industry. Progressive Farmer Magazine ranked this city as the Number 1 Place to Raise a Family. Its five city parks provide plenty of room to play and enjoy the outdoors. They have ballfields, playgrounds, a municipal pool, a skate park, horseshoe pits, picnic shelters and even camping facilities. Adding to these is the new Penner Athletic Courts with indoor basketball and volleyball facilities. The Plainsman museum is where you can see a sod house, player pianos, artifacts, a one-room schoolhouse and the the home of General Delevan Bates. It is a place where you can learn about the history of Hamilton County, Nebraska and the Great Plains.
