Rutherford Municipal Court

The borough of Rutherford has grown from being home to 1000 residents in 1880 to nearly 18,000 residents in 2001. It is believed that ‘Rutherford’ got it’s name in 1870 in recognition of the Ohio politician Rutherford Hayes. Since then Rutherford has been home to many residents who feel a sense of belonging, even if they move away. Wonderful atmosphere, with tree-lined streets and beautiful weather, which belies the fact that Rutherford is very close to New York City. The downtown area has many strip malls, shopping centers, corporate offices and the famous Williams Arts and Performing Center. The borough always hosts a ‘Labor Day Street Fair’ annually. The borough has excellent public transportation within the borough and to NYC. The 10-acre campus of Felician College is in Rutherford too.
