About the area

Hyde Park is located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River on Rte 9, north of Poughkeepsie. It was originally known as Stoutenburgh prior to 1810, and was part of the Town of Clinton until 1821. The Birthplace and gravesite of Franklin D Roosevelt is located on his family estate in Hyde Park. Frederick Vanderbilt also has a mansion in Hyde Park; both are overlooking the Hudson. The Culinary Institute of America, has its campus in Hyde Park.
