Glen Cove, New York 11542
The city of Glen Cove is on the north shore of LI at the entrance to Hempstead Harbor and although it is surrounded by the Town of Oyster Bay, its local government is autonomous from Oyster Bay. Colorful tidbits of history and folklore include that Glen Cove is the rumored spot of Captain Kidd’s treasure. Glen Cove has been the summer home to many wealthy industrialists and notables of the late 19th and early 20th century including financier JP Morgan, Charles Pratt, Lillian Russell, and Frank Woolworth. It has also been the setting for some classic films: the original “Sabrina” with Audrey Hepburn and was the site for Cary Grant’s abduction in Alfred Hitchcock’s “North By Northwest”.
