Albion has an area of some 30,000 acres and was set off from Richland in 1825. The town is in the northeastern part of the county and includes State Route 13. I-81 is nearby. The town is bounded on the east by Orwell and Williamstown and on the south by Parish, on the west by Richland and on the north by Richland and Orwell. Albion was formerly one the chief lumbering towns in Oswego County. Communities and locations in Albion town are Howardsville, a hamlet on State Route 104 is situated about two miles east of Dugway and contains a cheese factory, post-office and school house; Dugway a hamlet on the State Route 104 towards the west of Howardville; Centerville a hamlet in the northwest corner of the town, north of Pineville; Maple Corners a location at the west town line. The Village of Altmar is within the town borders.
