Undoubtedly most well known for the race track near the village of Watkins Glen, the Town of Dix is also part of the Finger Lakes Trail & the Catharine Valley Trail. The Queen Catharine Marsh offers fishing, canoing, kayaking, birdwatching, hiking, fishing, hunting & trapping. Located at the southern end of Seneca Lake, one local business offers snorkel & scuba tours. When settlement in the area began around 1800, 2 dams were built by beavers across Post Creek – thus Beaver Dams got its name.
