About Fremont Town Court

About the area

Named for Gen. John C. Fremont, the Town of Fremont includes the hamlets of Stephens Mills, Haskinsville & Big Creek. First cleared in 1818, Haskin opened the first tavern in 1836 near the head of Neils Creek. The hamlet grew up around the tavern.
