The prospect of gold in the area gave a start to this town. In the 1860’s rush, millions of dollars in gold was mined in this area. If you visit the Grant County Historical museum you will be treated to some of the wierdest sights. There are the skulls of the first two men to be hanged in Grant county and the mannequins in the diaramas barely resemble human beings.
