Welcome to one of three counties of the Harrisburg–Carlisle metro area, named after the City of Cumberland in England. Founded back in the 1750s, more than 221000 residents, and served by Carlisle City as its county seat; this big “community” is full of contrasts because of the traditions and influences brought by its first settlers from Scotland and Germany.
