McKean County Court

Smethport borough is the county seat of this territory located between Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties in New York State and Potter, Cameron, Elk, and Forest County in Pennsylvania State. The homeland of the Kinzua Bridge State Park and the Big Rock Overflow Area Recreation Site, was named for Gov. Thomas McKean back during its incorporation days in the early 19th century. This land is served by six school districts; Bradford, Kane, Otto-Eldred, Smethport, Oswayo Valley, and Port Allegany, along with the University of Pittsburgh. All the students may document their papers and homeworks at the local libraries such as Hamlin Memorial Library, Samuel W Smith Mem Public Library, and Bradford Area Public Library. Bradford is the largest city in this county with almost 9200 residents out of the 45000 people residing in the entire territory of McKean.
