As you can imagine with the volume, Philadelphia has a substantial amount of crime. Statistics show the volume of serious crimes is down about 20% in the last several years, but there’s still a lot of problems. The city has had publicity for experimentation with the school system and arranging for free wireless internet access.

Prosecutors

The big wheel in the DA’s office is Lynne Abraham. Main office phone is 215-686-8000; Fax at 563-0047. Assistant District Attorneys for Philadelphia Municipal Court conduct preliminary hearings and misdemeanor trials at a high volume, with close to 100 trials a day on average – and we’re counting the weekends even though they probably don’t do trials then.

Type Of Cases

Mostly misdemeanors along with initial handling of the more serious crimes. They also have a “Nuisance Night Court.” Sounds delightful.
