Less than 15 miles separates Youngsville, Pleasantville, and Tionesta boroughs from Tidioute borough, incorporated back in the early 1860s when Irish, German, and Swedish colonies worked in unison towards the progress and construction of this land. This territory of a bit more than 1 square mile of territory and home of more than 760 people, received its name from a derivation from the Indian term variously translated as “straight water,” “seeing far” or “cluster of islands”.
