Providence is also called the Renaissance City. In fact it was one of the first cities to be established in the United States and thatâ€™s where its popularity comes from. Located right between the Narragansett Bay and the Providence River this beautiful city is nick named as Little Italy. Providence is home to the famous Rhode Island Institute of Design which is one of the top colleges for Art in America. [Editor’s Note – I don’t agree with everything here. Renaissance? But they do have a hotel with that name, so maybe there’s something going on. I visited and I didn’t go because it was the first city or anything – but it is a nice place. Burned my clutch a little on one of the steep hils too, but you don’t care about that.]
