About the area
The Wateree River is just another name for the Catawba River. Some Americans found the word Catawba difficult and usually the Native Indians used that name. So they came up with an easier name and that was Wateree. The River was quite notorious for flooding and that’s why it got its name. However today it is an ideal spot for short vacations.
