About Grantsville Justice Court
About the area

Unfortunately Grantsville no longer has its opera house; but it is part of the history of this town. It was demolished in the Winter of 1957 after serving the community as a social hall, playhouse, movie theater and the site of dances. Not its original purpose when it was first constructed at the end of the 19th century. On the grounds of the Donner-Reed Museum, originally a schoolhouse, you can see a pioneer log home and a jail cell. There are also wagons, a cabin and blacksmith shop erected by the first settlers. The museum has on display artifacts and relics from local pioneers and Native Americans who inhabited the area. Nearby you can find the the Grantsville Daughters of Utah Pioneers museum which has on display antiquities first brought to the area by the early pioneers and settlers. The museum is located in the the historic J. Reuben Clark home and has display one of the original projectors used in the Grantsville Opera house.
