This last capital of the Confederate States of America (The Confederacy), back in the middle 1800’s, became an independent city of the State of Virginia. The connections between Atlanta, Charlotte, New York and other major cities, has been possible for years through the “eastern passenger train” or the Crescent Train operated by Amtrak.
