A visit to Old Town Winchester is a chance to wander through shops and dine in restaurants set in the midst of centuries-old architecture and numerous historical landmarks. The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley started as a museum in the Glen Burnie Historic House. In this facility you have the opportunity to see the museums four collections and four gallery spaces. The collections are made up of the living collection that is the spectacular gardens surrounding the Glen Burnie House, The Shenandoah Valley Collection, the Julian Wood Glass Jr. Collection, and the R. Lee Taylor Miniatures Collection. The galleries are the Shenandoah Valley gallery representative of Valley history and displays of decorative arts of the Valley from the mid-1700s to the present, the Founders gallery with objects from the collection of European and American fine and decorative arts, the R. Lee Taylor Miniatures Gallery with its collection of furnished miniature houses and rooms created in the Shenandoah valley and a gallery with exhibits which are changed throughout the year. This is a place where the history of the Shenandoah valley comes alive.
