There is more than a nod to culture in this town with several venues contributing to the variety of items available. Although the focus of the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts is on collections of Virginia artists it also exhibits such collections as the Oppenhimer Collection of Folk Art, the Rowe Collection of Chinese Art and the Ziegler and Brumfield Collections of African Art. The Waterworks Players present live theater putting on four to five shows per year with local actors, singers, designers and technicians. A group of singers from several countries welded together as the The Commonwealth Chorale performs two major annual productions per year. Longwood University’s Department of Music presents their Camerata Singers, Wind Symphony, University Men’s Choir, Jazz Ensemble and University Women’s Choir in performances throughout the year.
