About the area
In 1876, Pomeroy was one of the points established for shipment of grain along the Snake river. This resulted from the establishment of farms to raise crops of grain a few years earlier. Steptoe Battlefield State Park covers four acres and features a 25-foot granite memorial that commemorates the Steptoe Battlefield campaign. The area is a popular destination for bird watching, hang-gliding, paragliding, hiking and picnicking. A place where people can relax or have a great time enjoying the outdoors.
