About the area
In the 1890’s the superintendent of the Sunnyside canal project slected a town site which he named for the daughter of the president of the Northern Pacific Railroad. The development of various elements of a town, such as a general store and a drugstore, soon followed. Zillah has been growing ever since. One of the interesting sites in town is the Teapot Dome Service Station built as a memorial to the Teapot Dome scandal of 1922.
